President Franklin Roosevelt smiling at the Yalta conference in 1945 with Churchill and Stalin. His BP was 260/150 and untreated. His secretary of state called him, "cheerful, calm and quite rested." It's called the silent killer for a reason.

I’d love to see a medical show where a person collapses in public and a bystander doctor thinks: “Oh crap I have no idea what to do. I haven’t done CPR in 20 years. I work in outpatient clinic and prescribe pills/order tests all day.” That would be a GREAT storyline.

John Paul “JP” Arios, MS IMO, only a *very* highly ranked school (whatever that means to you) should supersede your state med school. Trying to crawl out from under 300-400K of private med school debt is a tall order no matter which specialty you choose. Good luck to you! 👍🏾

Remember: the best program is the one that matches you. They ranked you high enough on their list because they are enthusiastic about training you into the best physician you can be. Congratulations to those celebrating #MATCHDAY today.

When you turn down a request, you’re not obligated to explain why. Other people aren't entitled to know your reasons and priorities. Being courteous is not about justifying your decision. It's about showing gratitude for the invitation. "Honored to be asked. Sorry to miss it."
