#Melbourne's Spencer St Station roofline was ruler straight in 1962, before it went all curvy decades later, while taxi colour schemes were funky. On the other hand, W2 class #tram No 536 stuck with green and cream. Image from our collection by Keith Kings.

On your way to visit us on Sat 22 Oct, please don't hold up any #trams if you're coming by car. Even better, travel with Yarra Trams to stop 29 on routes 70 or 75. We're open from 11 to 4. 1960s #Melbourne #tram ads from our collection.

This threepence #Melbourne #tram ticket circa 1928 is one of over a hundred recovered from the body of J class No 64, decades after scrapping in 1956 after service in Geelong. But you can still buy Kiwi shoe polish! Ticket donated by Warrington Cameron.

A tuppenny #Melbourne #tram ticket circa 1928 from scrapped tram. After cleaning - a delicate job for an old ticket - the original blue is hinted at, despite the heavy oxidation of the paper. While Osram exists, radio valves aren't a thing now. Ticket donated by W. Cameron.

Lifting #tram grooved rail by hand in South #Melbourne Depot civil engineering yard, circa 1974...before the days of correct lifting technique. My back twinges in sympathy. Image from our collection.

It's a pleasant winter's day about noon. The driver is chatting to the connie as he returns from punching the Bundy clock - but where? This Sat 14 Jan it's going to be hot, yet we're open from 11 to 4 on our first open day of 2023. Image from our collection.

At our open day yesterday, a collector popped in with series of small brass keys were used for - each engraved on with either MMTB, TRAMWAYS or MTOCo. Despite never having seen one of these before, we do have an idea of their purpose....but we're wondering what you think.

The Melbourne Tram Museum is dedicated to the preservation and display of Melbourne’s tramway history. Today I learnt about the importance of Trove to its work and the fun fact that Victorian tram conductresses were the first Australian women to earn equal pay (in 1941!)
