Real-word demonstration of black start capabilities using grid-forming inverters - and some important questions in this thread

Great article about the social function of the front porch. I think air conditioning has a big impact. Not only does it keep me inside on a hot summer night. That noisy box makes it less enjoyable for my neighbours to sit on their front porch.

Excellent first episode! Loved the discussion on designing fail-safe but preparing to fail safely under increasingly uncertain circumstances. Best quote Emily Grubert “How do we black out gracefully?”

COVID-19 safety in shelters and group homes should include indoor air quality. But there’s almost no mention of ventilation, filtration and UV disinfection in Toronto Public Health’s public guidance for congregate settings. Same with Public Health Ontario. #COVIDisAirborne

NEW REPORT!📄 Canada's infrastructure isn't prepared for climate change. Our roads and buildings must be able to withstand current and future climate and extreme weather, or we risk disruption, lost lives & billions of dollars in damage. climatechoices.ca/reports/under-…

Excellent report from @ClimateChoices. It’s clear that failing to prioritize resilience will only exacerbate infrastructure challenges. Governments must take action – and shift public & private investments toward making infrastructure more resilient. #ClimateProofCanada #CDNPoli

Germany is taking another step forward in introducing CCfDs for Industrial Decarbonisation ("Klimaschutzverträge"). The funding guideline is done and now in consultation across ministries. Let's have a look what's in it (based on public info: background.tagesspiegel.de/energie-klima/…) 1/X

It's time to bring this up again. Most residential HVAC installs are abysmal. I know of one $100M company that has a 34% callback rate on new installs. That tells you that far more than that have issues. Efficiency standards have made equipment far more sensitive than it used

PS Heat pumps are even more sensitive to install quality than furnaces in most instances, so on the electrification front if we fail to solve for this, it's yet another way that we will fail to achieve scale. The amount of inertia against electrification is astounding.
