Supporting #HE students with #career choices - insights from Julia Yates City_OrgPsych - One-to-one career conversations in UK higher education: practical approaches and professional challenges tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
What if.... we abolished HR? This is a cracker of an episode where I asked Peter Cheese CIPD and Wendy Hirsh Institute for Employment Studies to consider what would happen if we got rid of the HR profession entirely, dealing with criticism & proving value podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/wha…
No surprise that Peter Cheese CIPD CIPD thinks we'd have to reinvent #HR if it didn't exist..... with more confidence and professional capability. Useful agenda of upcoming issues and shared view with Institute for Employment Studies of evidence-based, collaborative, best-fit approaches to #HR.
Thank you The Mary Rose and Portsmouth Music Hub . We didn't know today was THE actual anniversary day when we decided to visit the dockyard today. We were so lucky to catch this wonderful choir singing with such joy and musicality. Brilliant
Hmmm. Two years after opening these hubs we're closing them. There's 600k more people out of work than pre-Covid. We need more like this, for more people, not less. "With support and funding from DWP" - sounds like wasn't the Council's idea to close it... eastleigh.gov.uk/latest-news/yo…

Thanks Ringmer Village Library for this uplifting thought from 1931. I remember so well my childhood public library in London - the astonishing thrill that I could browse freely and CHOOSE for MYSELF which books to borrow. Ringmer Village Library does that still for ALL who come
Thanks Alison Carter for such a thought-provoking and well informed piece on how employers shy away from #Neurodiversity in work experience candidates
Thanks Nick Holley . The question I wish #hr people would prioritise before an "initiative" is "have we done something like this before?" Would save endless fruitless tweaks of approaches that don't work
Wonderful thoughts on leadership from Stephen Bevan Institute for Employment Studies . In my 20s I asked the retiring HRD of major plc what he had learned in his working life. His answer was "good managers smile at their staff." Many years later I think he was probably right
In memory of our dear friend and colleague Stephen Bevan, we've collated a wide selection of his blogs and articles that he wrote over the last 20 years. These include pieces for IES, The Work Foundation, Working With Cancer 💙, HR magazine and The Conversation. bit.ly/3RAk5h2
Thank you BBC Breakfast & Michael Rosen 💙💙🎓🎓 NICE 爷爷 for keeping loss of libraries in news. #Ringmer independent library Ringmer Village Library couldn't manage its book stock & systems nearly so well without our amazing librarian doing bigger version of her old professional job - unpaid!
