My 5 year old has started asking “why are there no small potties here” anytime we go to a public restroom and its got me noticing how inaccessible so much of the public space is for children.

I’ve spoken about my neighbour Branka before. But I suppose I have a lot of new followers so I’m going to talk about her again. Branka was my Jewish neighbour. She was an elderly woman. Her parents died in the Holocaust. She survived Jasenovac and Auschwitz, I wanna say.

8 has been taking piano lessons for the last month. My mom had started working with him but she doesn’t have the time to do it a lot. I was nervous, but he LOVES it! He asks to practice and has gotten to skip ahead quite a bit. I love watching his confidence grow ❤️

Had to rush out of my 9 year olds birthday party to go to the hospital and see my mom. She’s been doing chemo for the last year. She now has pneumonia and is on a ventilator. She’s heavily sedated but I did show her some pictures and she smiled at them.

This morning I held my mom’s hand while she took her last breath. I am broken. But my support system is holding me together and for that I am grateful. I had the best mom. And I will miss her so much.

A few hours after my mother passed, my husband went to check on his dad and found him in his bed. He died of an apparent heart attack. So we’re planning two funerals while trying to manage our own feelings, support each other, and help our kids navigate this. I’m so tired.

My friend has a therapist that’s really helped them a lot. I’ve never met or spoken to this therapist, but we say hi to each other through this friend. I don’t know why, but it delights me.

I don’t generally post my kids here but I’m making an exception. This is one of my favorite pictures of my mom. These kids were her world and she was theirs. I’m going to miss them being the three musketeers more than anything.
