Facts are important. 1) Disruption was largely caused by the police. 2) The teach-ins and protests have been largely organized by students. 3)The demonstrations have not silenced Jewish students. Jewish students are participating in both demonstrations and counter-demonstrations.

Whether or not they are alumni, UT Austin is a public university and free speech and assembly are allowed on campus for all, students and non-students alike. And of 79 people arrested, 34 were students = 43%, a significant amount. No evidence of “orchestration” has been provided.

We’ve repeatedly asked for an interview with UT Austin President Jay Hartzell about his handling of pro-Palestinian protests.

A UT spox declined.

I caught this video today of UT Austin students voluntarily picking up trash after the protest. Also witnessed respectful debate between pro-Israel & pro-Palestinian students. The police force that descended on campus only inflamed emotions. There’s got to be a better way.
