Getting ready to care for the hive in grade 7 😃

Some days we just need to step out of the classroom and appreciate the science happening all around us! The grade 8s loved ending the school day celebrating the crystallized precipitation mother nature brought to us.

The grade 7 class demonstrated their excellent cooperation skills in the lab this week. Designating roles based on their strengths and collecting data accurately as a team are key skills when working independently in the lab!

What a buzzing morning we had learning to prep our bee hive for the spring. A big thank you to Karen Youdan Walsh for visiting our students and sharing her knowledge and love of bees with our grade 7 class as they prepare for Bee Day!

Biology 3201 students are amazing teaching assistants! They shared their microscope skills with the Grade 7 class to help with the identification of mixtures on a microscopic level. So proud of their leadership skills!

We love cross curricular opportunities! Earlier this year, humanities and science brought kids together to teach them the history of NL fishing and how precious each part of a fish can be! (The wolffish went back to its home of course!)

Ms. Matthews and Mr. Peters have been busy with student volunteers harvesting honey from the hive for the very first time these past few weeks! A very proud moment for the St. Bon's Beehive. 🙂 #deeplearning St. Bon's 🇨🇦

In November our high school nutrition and biology classes had an opportunity to visit Fishing for Success . All students fished throughout the morning, others completed dissections and the nutrition class cooked up a beautiful meal on the waterfront for us all to share! St. Bon's 🇨🇦
