So… Paul Calandra has the Ministry taking over four more school boards -TDSB, TCDSB, OCDSB, and DPCDSB. I have no problem with accountability and transparency, but this feels a lot like a distraction from the fact that he is massively underfunding public education.

The goal is to privatize education. The rich winners get vouchers to their fave private school. The poor losers don’t get educated at all.

We need to fight for equitable, well-funded public schools for every child, not fragmented systems that exacerbate inequality.

Balancing a budget on the backs of the most vulnerable children with complex needs is extremely short-term thinking. And yet here we are in #OntEd. Programs, staff, training, and direct services for kids cut. You can’t keep doing the same thing and expecting better results.

Ontario Conservatives are funny. They say everything is broken but have been in power for 8 years. Healthcare is provincially administered.

Unconscionable… Doug Ford axed the Independent Child Advocate in 2018 and this is the road he set us on. Children in care are our collective responsibility. The Ford Government has knowingly failed too many of the most vulnerable children in our province.

Universal healthcare is who we are as Canadians. It’s one of the things that sets us a part from the U.S. and we should be proud of that. Let’s keep it strong and make sure it serves everyone, in every region. It’s our heritage, our legacy and something we should all be proud of.

Sadly, many classrooms in #OntEd are regularly in the “cognitive function is decreased” zone on this chart. This is reflected in student focus, learning, and academic achievement markers in schools with poor ventilation. It’s well past time to #FixOurSchools.

Pretty embarrassing for the Premier of Ontario Doug Ford to say this considering this year alone he cut $42M from the wildfire fighting budget, 13 pilot vacancies, 100+ firefighter vacancies, 33% of the water bombers grounded, and he failed to procure new aircraft.

Parents never forget that THIS is who Paul Calandra, Doug Ford, minister of education chose to run the TDSB unchecked. NO education experience & who was terminated by Metrolinx due to incompetence & poor ethical decisions.
