Earlier this afternoon, we welcomed Catholic Police Guild 🚓 🇻🇦 #CPG for their 101st Requiem Mass, celebrated by Bishop Williams. Founded in 1914, the Police Guild held their first Requiem here in 1923 and, with the exception of a 2020 livestream, have been back to the Cathedral each year since.

The Metropolitan Police Choir were once again excellent. The Sovereigns Colour Unit of the Metropolitan Police again led the ceremonial aspect and the Guild awarded its highest honour, the Guild Fellowship, to our National Chaplain Fr. Barry Lomax

This morning, officers from The Sovereign Colour Unit changed Ilford Police Stations flag from EllR to CIIIR. They were joined by Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist, EA BCU Commander Stuart Bell and Chief Inspector Malcolm Gillespie.

London plays host to many large events every year, but there are some that take on much greater national significance. As the country marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day over the coming days, officers will be on duty across the city to keep the public safe.

20yrs on from 7/7, we remember those who never came home, and those who ran towards chaos. Emergency services, volunteers, TfL staff responded with courage and compassion. Today, a guard of honour stood in silent tribute, a lasting testament to humanity in the darkest of moments.

We joined the National Police Requiem Mass and City Hall’s Act of Remembrance — honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Many within our ranks also serve in the Armed Forces or as cadet instructors, united in service and remembrance. We will remember them. #LestWeForget
