The advertisement for our postdoc position in rangeland carbon monitoring is now live. This is an amazing opportunity to work with Woodwell Climate Research Center and partners LDEO National Fish and Wildlife Foundation WWF Audubon Society. I'm happy to answer any questions (email or DM). workforcenow.adp.com/mascsr/default…
New paper alert. A consensus view (amongst a bunch of researchers in this space) on what we know and need to know to effectively manage croplands for climate benefits led by Emily Oldfield & Jocelyn Lavallee tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
It is interesting that the scientific community seems to be rallying behind tonne-year accounting yet carbon market integrity groups like Carbon Market Watch really don't like the idea of allowing for a flexible definition of permanence.
Neat new work out of James Cook Uni that my group (Woodwell Climate Research Center) contributed to. Take away: traditional aboriginal fire regimes stored more soil carbon in Australian savannas suggesting that restoring more frequent fire return intervals would sequester CO2. publish.csiro.au/WF/WF24006
I don't think this is the conclusion Dr. Jonathan Foley comes to. Perhaps we can call it a limited no-regrets solution.
We are still looking for a talented postdoc to join our rangeland carbon monitoring efforts... I know there is a lot of competition for these skills right now but I can assure you Woodwell Climate Research Center is a fantastic place to work. workforcenow.adp.com/mascsr/default…
As a bonus, you'll get to collaborate with José Lucas Safanelli and myself on this great new project.
