5 years ago I was collecting data on Cambodian mangroves, my data was the first in the world. Today I’m appreciating #WorldEnvironmentDay2020 a little closer to home. Garden or no garden, I’ve got an urban park, woodland and coast within 5 minutes walk. What’s on your doorstep?

A very large (about 45cm toe to shoulder) Vulpes vulpes for #EuropeanMammalWeekend. They like to tease my dog by playing in the garden while he watches in awe (like me). It’s amazing what shows up if you just sit quietly and wait. The British Nature Guide

The best thing about living on the 2nd floor? The tree canopy is window height! Coal tit and juvenile have been visiting all day so I’ve barely moved. Baby looks plump while mum looks a bit raggedy. Perfect company for #mondaythoughts. #natureathome #solaceinnature

Spent today collecting Elderflower to make cordial. Elder trees feature often in folklore and as a child I knew the best place to find fairies was in and around them. No fairies today but a day in the sunshine certainly feels magic! #FridayFeeling #outdoorlearning #naturelovers

Worked harder than I have ever done to achieve this award. Beyond proud to be starting my teaching career with this. #MScTLT #transformativelearningandteaching #UniversityofEdinburgh

Only a few days in but I’m feeling like it was all worth it. I’m a teacher AND a scientist and I like that I get to be both!

It’s important to me as an educator to develop a #globalcitizenship mindset in my learners. It’s our duty to understand our context and our privilege. A great professional learning course with Scotdec this evening. Lots of resources and PL opportunities on their web!

The history of the Holocaust includes the banning of books. Maus is a work of art that has helped generations understand Nazi brutality and how they dictated what people could think, read and say. When you become fearful of ideas you forfeit your freedom. nytimes.com/2022/01/27/us/…
