Our thanks to Ladywood Fire Station who came out at the weekend to tend a 60ft Leyland Tree that wanted a 'tower to lean on' in Storm Darragh. They were really great!
We have had a super busy month! We popped across to see John Kings Uni of Birmingham Meteorology team, who is currently researching in the meteorology archives. Perrott's Folly was one of the world's first weather measuring stations with the Uni operating there until 1979. P1/2
John kindly gave us a tour of the current weather station onsite and showed us original hand-drawn graphs & charts from the archives. To connect the Folly's history from 19th.C. to present climate concerns through John's research is brilliant!P2/2 Met Office - West Midlands Historic England
We had a lovely session with our asylum cohort last week. We did collaged mono-printing using textured wallpaper and printing ink. We had lots of considered geometric designs and also floral creations. Great job all!!! 🌹🌷🌼💠🔺🔰Bham City Council Migrant Help
We dived into the world of paper quilling at A.C.E. with @elizabennett_art. Such diverse art pieces created, lots of fun, easy to get lost in the swirls! Bham City Council
We delved into the world of oil pastels at this week's Form of Clouds. We rarely use more traditional mediums for our sessions, so it was fun to immerse ourselves in colour and texture. Bham City Council Birmingham Voluntary Service Council
We are in the final flurry of activity for our UK Shared Prosperity Fund project. Concrete delivery onsite with Wikinson’s Environmental. In two weeks our canopy will be started, now the weather is not consistently horrendous!!! 🧱⛱️Bham City Council Birmingham Voluntary Service Council
The little glimpse of warm weather lifted our spirits at last week's Form of Clouds session as we invited artist Paula Ligo to deliver a painting session for us. We got comfortable with acrylics and then did some simple still-life's in the sunshine! Bham City Council Birmingham Voluntary Service Council
We're excited to be starting 'Together at Perrott's'; a project creating a permanent mosaic for Perrott's Folly with asylum-seeking families celebrating Sanctuary, Togetherness & Community. refuturecollective.co.uk/tap-together-a… Bham City Council Home Office Migrant Help Serco Group P1/2
We had another wonderful adventure to @comptonverney this week with the Form of Clouds. We loved the atomisers in the Naples Collection - they really brought the volcanic paintings to life. The Towering Dreams exhibition was a FOC fan-favourite! Bham City Council Birmingham Voluntary Service Council
After nearly three months of ‘rain stopping play’ at Perrott’s Folly, we are half way through the canopy project and small capital works at Perrott’s Folly via UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Matthew Foster , Wilkinson’s Environmental and Chris Shepheard Builders on the case! Birmingham Voluntary Service Council Bham City Council
Hooray!! We've been successful in our application to the #researchbettertogether programme led by Birmingham Voluntary Service Council Uni of Birmingham. We will be partnering with Dr Rachel Marsden (she/her) to create an evaluation for our Form of Clouds Social Prescribing Program. Kindly funded by National Institute for Health and Care Research NIHR SPHR P1/2
#researchbettertogether is an invaluable opportunity to create a working relationship with Dr Rachel Marsden (she/her) to better understand the impact of our work & the arts more broadly on health and social care. We can't wait to get started!! p2/2 Birmingham Voluntary Service Council Uni of Birmingham National Institute for Health and Care Research
We had a great session with our families group this afternoon making cute little rock animals! Alien - slugs and ladybirds scuttled into being! We love our little friends! Migrant Help Serco Group
A busy day Tie-dyeing at the Folly yesterday for Form of Clouds! We saw wonderful impressions and patterns emerging through different colour schemes. Thanks to Bham City Council Birmingham Voluntary Service Council for ongoing support through the Prevention and Communities program for disadvantaged citizens.
We had a lovely afternoon in the sunshine with our Form of Clouds participants yesterday. We did needle felting with Eliza Bennett. One of our participants finished the make off at home with brilliant stitching and button! Birmingham Voluntary Service Council Bham City Council
Such a great set of mono-collage prints created by our participants at Art at the Folly! We used wallpaper books, doilies and fabric to create raised abstract surfaces. Block printing inks were then applied to create unique works. We 💕them! Migrant Help Birmingham Voluntary Service Council Bham City Council
We were busy-busy at the Form of Clouds social prescribing program this week. We ran a metal-working session focusing on jewellery and etching! Brilliant makes! Bham City Council Karis Neighbour Scheme Birmingham Voluntary Service Council
We just managed to beat the rain yesterday at Art Pad! A block printing session with our artist Eliza Bennett produced lovely tote bags and pencil-purses! Great job everybody! The National Lottery Community Fund Birmingham Voluntary Service Council
