Why chase storms? There are countless reasons, but one stands out: they remind us how small we are. Imagine standing beneath a storm twice the height of Everest, visibly rotating. It's a truly humbling, awesome sight. (Near Tipton, OK on 5/16/2015)

This was the cell that produced a very intense tornado near Marion, IL, just 30 minutes before the tornado I need to quit meteorology because I sincerely know nothing

This one's gonna be hard to top. Went full storm chase mode keeping tabs on the wind and available escape routes this Wednesday for episode 24 of the Kilauea eruption. Lucky I didn't lose my eyebrows from peering over the edge.
