Please let this be true today: “There was always just enough virtue in this Republic to save it; sometimes none to spare, but still enough to meet the emergency.” —William Seward, Secretary of State during the civil war.

No. JD Vance lost friends for insulting childless women and suggesting without evidence that an entire demographic of people were eating cats and dogs.

For the last time (maybe), I'll repeat that it's a scandal and a disgrace that a major political party would re-nominate a disgraced former president who tried to steal an election and inspired an assault on Congress.

A few dozen influential Republicans could have finished Trump in 20. They thought he should be finished, wanted him finished, but thought it safer for them personally to not get involved. Their shame is eternal

Our nation’s democratic system functioned last night and we have a new President-elect.  All Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections. We now have a special responsibility, as citizens of the greatest nation on earth, to do

My maternal grandmother survived Auschwitz. My maternal grandfather killed Nazis in the Polish underground. My paternal grandfather landed at Guadalcanal. We’re not asked to do anything close. We’re called to stand up for truth and the rule of law. Let’s go.

Everybody keep your heads up. This isn’t forever, and after America gets a taste of what it voted for, there will likely be a massive backlash. There will be lots of time to come, and I’m still in the trenches with you. Just going to take a bit longer.

Also, how is the Court that loves the non delegation and major questions doctrine going to handle tariffs? If Biden can’t do student debt relief, surely the Congress that gave POTUS targeted sanctions authority didn’t intend for Trump to make sweeping tax policy with tariffs.

Congrats to our former colleague (who argued while he was at Hogan Lovells) Nathaniel Zelinsky for his victory in Barnes v. Felix. The case is also a win for Assistant to the SG Zoe Jacoby, who was our practice researcher before law school. supremecourt.gov/opinions/24pdf…

So glad to have won a 9-0 victory for our client in this terribly tragic and important case. And so grateful to my colleague Neal Katyal and my former colleague Katie Wellington for supporting me.

Another victory for professional and ethical standards in the legal profession. These folks should never again step foot in a courtroom as lawyers.

"The Supreme Court ruled that judges must consider all the relevant circumstances in their scrutiny of challenges to police shootings, not just 'the moment of threat.' " Today's NYT on our 9-0 win in Barnes v. Felix.

WLG filed its first brief today, challenging Alina Habba's appointment as acting US Attorney. WLG's James Pearce will argue the case on Friday in DNJ. All in all, a good start. Read the brief here: washingtonlitigationgroup.org/news/washingto…

Proud to defend the civil service in Twomey v. DOJ. "Make no mistake—this is nothing less than a wholesale assault on the merit system principles. The Board should firmly reject the invitation to upset the Civil Service Reform Act." Read our brief: washingtonlitigationgroup.org/news/defending…
