After visiting EPROCOMI & WMP Gifurwe Mining Companies, a team consisting of representatives from Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union , Rwanda Mines,Petroleum and Gas Board , Rwanda TVET Board & Enabel in Rwanda, continued the field work at NBM Company as part of monitoring the progress #RPL assessments in the mining sector.

The RPL assessment is a collaborative effort between REWU, RMB, RTB, Enabel, and mining companies. This program will help the mining sector to remain a formal industry with formal employment.

Last week was very busy as a team of representatives from Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union , Rwanda Mines,Petroleum and Gas Board , Rwanda TVET Board , and Enabel in Rwanda conducted monitoring of the progress of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment in the mining sector.

The week-long visit concluded at the CEMINYAKI Mining Company in Rubavu District. The RPL assessment is a collaborative effort between REWU, RMB, RTB, Enabel, and mining companies. This program will help the mining sector to remain a formal industry with formal employment.

#GoodNews!: On Friday, June16th, a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) was signed between the REWU Trade Union and Eurotrade International (ETI) Ltd with the aim of increasing mineral production and improving employee welfare. Rwanda Mines,Petroleum and Gas Board Enabel in Rwanda CESTRAR Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Rwanda

The agreement included increased remuneration and bonuses, as well as establishing a minimum living wage for employees in the company. Both parties negotiated this CBA in good faith starting from February 2023, and concluded on June16th,2023 by signing the CBA.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) was signed by the General Manager of ETI Ltd, the subcontractor Bajeneza Eugene, the Secretary General of REWU, and the Labor Inspector of Rulindo District.
