Always try to work on how you respond when you lose, hit adversity, get disrespected, plans change, things go against you. Don’t lose your temper, whine or act inappropriately. People who stay calm, adapt & think through situations come out on top more often than those who don’t.

Please keep in mind: Winning is great, but with a win-at-all-cost mindset you will lose respect from your peers & even your players. It’s not about wins/losses, your ego or resume. It’s about helping kids. It’s about positively influencing your kids’ futures. That’s what matters!

This is so important! Just like in the classroom all kids cannot be coached the same. We need to build that relationship with each one of our athletes! PV Boys Lacrosse @PutnamValleyAD

Be great without being high maintenance. Show up on time, wear the right stuff, be coachable, support your teammates & give 100% every time you practice/play. High maintenance is hard. Coaches love low maintenance players who buy into the process. You’re what makes coaching fun!

Players have 2 choices: Either pout or prepare. Whether you play or don’t play, whether you win or lose, you will never regret working hard, making commitments, being disciplined or focusing too much. These skills not only prepare you for your game, but will prepare you for life!

5 C’s of Success: Commitment- Don’t shortchange your team, coaches or yourself Communication- Say what you mean; mean what you say Caring- Treat others with respect Competitiveness- Compete in everything Consistency- Find what works & keep doing it. Hold yourself accountable

Before you say you’ll do it, remember: commitments are pledges, not maybes. When you become a member of a team, you commit yourself to every practice, workout, game & adversity. It’s nothing more than your coaches & teammates expect & deserve. Nothing means more than your word!

Don’t allow players who come out of a game & stomp down to the end of the bench like they just lost their puppy. They should stay alert & engaged & encourage teammates. It’s not an individual activity. They play a team game. Team culture is more important than individual success!

Start 2024 right. If you are going to quit something, quit: Complaining Blaming others Taking shortcuts Procrastinating Being afraid to fail Doubting yourself Unhealthy habits Focusing on the negatives Living in your comfort zone Saying I can’t/won’t/don’t Comparing Giving up
