Something to stop doing immediately: Telling women their pelvic pain will be cured by a hysterectomy. That is almost never the case.

Nulliparous women have a higher rate of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Compared to women with no SUI, the possible potential risk factors are age (>30 years), higher BMI, and abnormal type I muscle fiber of the pelvic floor. ow.ly/Umsc50EKi7w

I know this isn’t a perfect fix, but it’s a start, and if everyone who believes in #parity puts in a bit of elbow grease, real change is possible. There have already been some great strides forward. Let’s keep the ball rolling.

I really thought that we were getting past this in Gynecology but because I have seen a run of these patients lately: It is NEVER appropriate to do a hysterectomy for prolapse without an apical vaginal repair. NEVER. It is totally unethical and hurts women.
