Sportin Wales This is a huge underestimation in the value of history to Welsh fans. We still talk about the great Cardiff, Newport, Llanelli, Neath or Swansea sides from decades gone. Ponty fans can't forgive losing their region over 20 years ago and now we're being told to "move on"?

Steve Coombs (@s_coombsy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The WRU should pay close attention to claims that Ospreys and Dragons are not "real regions" but in fact "superclubs". Both were created in 2003. Have neutral branding. Have used multiple stadia.... If that isnt enough, what would be? What would "new entities" do differently?

Smee I wouldn’t mind but N Wales could not even make a success of football, a sport that is ingrained there, until a massive influx of money came in. Where the fuck is this money coming from for rugby up there ?

Cardiff fans when answering this question make sure you put "another sport". The first four answers ( and maybe the 5th) the WRU will have no issues with.

Smee The fact wales internationals is there is a joke. Without the backbone that is the 4 regions there is no wales internationals

Contracting 80 female players when you are claiming you can only contract 100 male players just seems slightly nuts to me at this time.

Asa Joseph 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇦🇺 Smee You don’t build new structures from top down. 2 pro teams at this point would be a complete waste of time. One team playing in English league at a push but it would make more sense investing in women’s pathway at this financial inflection point. That’s were most gain available

Smee Nathan Marshall JT Think this is being really under-valued by people. Lots of debate before they released their proposals, but you dig into the detail and it’s a money saving exercise. Whether you agreed with the proposals to consolidate everything into two teams or not (I didn’t), it’s not even

Harry Thompson (@hmorganthompson) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Smee Nathan Marshall JT Definitely. It is essentially giving up on having a thriving club scene (that’s for the likes of England and France) and they can just concentrate on the internationals.

Steve Coombs (@s_coombsy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Harry Thompson Smee Nathan Marshall JT This is a plan which should not be confused with an attempt to create a thriving club scene. Its about treating the national sides the way you might treat a project to win Olympic Gold. Which is what you'd expect an expert in athletic performance to come up with.

Steve Coombs (@s_coombsy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Harry Thompson Smee Nathan Marshall JT I'd argue that if you want to guarantee big attendances at internationals you really need there to be more week to week rugby fans. To do that, you need to create a level of club rugby that captivates the public. Nothing in this plan does that. If anything it does the opposite.
