One of the long-term goals of #Subnational Diplomacy is to normalize local elected officials engaging in global diplomacy for the benefit of their constituents. Thank you Tim Kelly and Jovita Neliupšienė for the robust discussion at the Meridian International Center Symposium. Truman Center

Many people think #diplomacy occurs only at the international level, but the subnational work happening in cities/towns has very real impacts! Thank you Meridian International Center for the chance last night to share about EU Service for Foreign Policy Instruments 🌐 projects in the US that are addressing global challenges.

Great to see this important report by Kyle Jaros and Sara Newland out in the world; kudos to Max Bouchet and his colleagues for publishing it. trumancenter.org/news-posts/tru…

Great to see China expert Kyle Jaros sharing insights with Truman Center and Brookings China. Kyle's expertise focuses on subnational relations between the United States and China, looking at the important roles that state and local governments play.

A fantastic article by Oliver Milman on the U.S. aesthetic of lawns. When I first discovered American suburbia around Atlanta and then the DMV, the fetishization of the lawn was my top source of amazement and consternation (the 2nd being drive-thru ATMs).

“Subnational diplomacy has today become a political necessity. It is an asset to our transatlantic relations, and we have neglected its political & economic importance for far too long.” (Amb. Andreas Michaelis Andreas Michaelis). Read more from Kristen Edgreen Kaufman: forbes.com/sites/kristenk…

I'm thrilled to join Meridian International Center at a pivotal moment when local leadership in global affairs has never been more essential. We'll connect local gov, businesses, academia, and diplomats to forge new international partnerships for growth, resilience & innovation. #OpenDiplomacy
