There's no denying the trend is NOT your friend if you want all snow along the Grand Strand. This is precisely why you can't definitively talk any specific precip types or totals for a given location this far out. We're still four days from this event and there will be

No way to know anything about precipitation type this far out, but if you're a fan of snow in Myrtle Beach, you DO NOT want this to happen. That's a layer of warm air aloft that would change snow to freezing rain Tuesday night. NO THANKS!

I am continuing to monitor each model trend very closely pertaining to the storm system expected to impact our area next Tuesday & Wednesday. I know everyone wants to know whether we are going to see snow or not, including myself. When it comes to forecasting large storm systems

FIRST ALERT: Forecast models are starting to shift west in our winter storm track, bringing the Lowcountry a better chance of wintry weather Tuesday evening into Wednesday! For now, highs should stay near-average along with weekend rain chances. #SCWX

Confidence is increasing in the potential for winter precip. next week mainly between Tue. aftn & Wed. morning. This graphic depicts the probability for at least minor impacts due to snow. It is too early to estimate amounts. Harsh cold is likely Mon-Wed. wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/wwd/wssi/prob_…

Even though the last 4 runs of the deterministic GFS have trended westward, the GFS and Euro ensembles still favor the eastern Carolinas for at least 1" of snow.

Just because models agree doesn't mean they've found the final answer. Continue to expect track adjustments, in either direction, over the next few days. There will likely be a western edge where some stay dry and miss out on snow. Debatable where that is now. #ncwx

So most areas haven't had measurable snow since 2022. It's increasingly likely we will have measurable snow in the area late Tuesday into Tuesday in some spots. Right now, not confident where! Remember, sleet and freezing rain very well could occur as well.

We're roughly four days from a potential winter storm impacting our area. Our confidence is high that we will see wintry precipitation but exactly what the dominant precipitation type will be in your area is still uncertain. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are all on the table.

Weather maker #1 will move through the day tomorrow and bring a quick shot of rain late tomorrow morning into early tomorrow afternoon. Most of the rain should end by around 2-4 PM. As this cold front comes through, a secondary piece of energy will form and create more rain

The incoming cold air will be brutal with several nights in the teens and highs perhaps not exceeding freezing. Some areas could be below freezing for more than 60 hours. This is pipe-busting cold and will strain your heat pumps. Check on the elderly and make sure you take care

About that ❄️ next week... What we DO know: It will be very COLD. Timing of greatest impacts from winter precipitation looks to occur Tue afternoon into Wed morning. What we DON'T know: Exact amounts nor type of precip (snow, sleet, etc.) Check weather.gov/chs for updates

FIRST ALERT: While the focus of our forecast remains on the risk of wintry weather next week, don't forget about this weekend's rain chances! Scattered rain - heavy at times - will be possible starting after sunrise Saturday, and should stay spotty through early Sunday. #SCWX
