I find mentoring to be one of the most rewarding forms of service (I’d take it any day over a referee report). To me this is something to say YES to!!! Especially when the call comes from a #noclub buddy

I LOVE universal free lunch! planning/packing lunch is a huge contributor to household mental load which tends to fall on women (in my HH it is my male partner’s task) so I love free lunch on MANY LEVELS!!!! Last, we are lucky enough to be able to make a donation to offset costs.

And another paper rejection. Still hurts after all these years (and all these rejections 😂😭). I’d say “thankfully I’m distracted by the joys of a new school year” but truthfully I’m just going to be moping about this for a bit.

Clubs and networks in economics: Authors with connections to editors via same PhD program, work relationships or co-author networks more often avoid desk rejection. Referee decisions influenced by PhD, employment matches, signalling. Great connectivity papers get fewer citations

Did you know the average real wage of a full professor at a top 100 liberal arts college FELL 8.4% between 2012-2022? At the same time, the # of librarians and academic support staff increased by 71%. But their real wages also decreased!

Only people who have never worked a fast food job while in school (and/or don't know anybody who did) would think it is shocking to not list it on your resume...

Hello Behavioral & Experimental people! I will be on sabbatical in Spring 2025, and one of the things I would really like to do is teach a few short courses based on my book. Please email me if you are interested in me coming to your institution! jamesblandecon.github.io/StructuralBaye…
