Simple dry runs for shell commands/scripts: put `echo`s in front of all of the destructive parts (mv, rm, etc.) Then you can run that as a dry run to see what subcommands it'll run. Then remove the echos to do the real thing. For example, I just renamed some files:

Interestingly, my read of the situation is that PhDs in computer science are *less* likely to inaccurately imply their STEM degree/experience is relevant than are software developers in general.
