The updated Rosemount branch of OttPubLib/BibPubOtt looks like everything we need in our community library space. Looking forward to bringing my boys back to the library again when the building re-opens! We check out exterior progress daily! biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/rosemount-r…
I’d love to add this Eric Walters book to my school library!
Excellent news about no more late fines at OttPubLib/BibPubOtt. My never-ending pile of children's books (often returned late) thanks you!
So many titles added to my to-read list. Congrats to all the Forest of Reading nominees!
We’re celebrating Canadian School Library Day 🎉#CSLD2020 by giving away a set of the Black History in Canada series from #BeechStreetBooks! RT + FOLLOW by the end of Tues. Oct. 27 to be entered to win #bookgiveaway! Cdn School Libraries
I may be a day late, but the idea is still the same. School libraries are as important now as ever, and I hope they continue to get the appreciation and support they deserve! Erica Eades (she/her) Sacha Neesham Sara Spencer Shelagh Straughan Laurel Tarulli
Happy that independent bookstores are finding a silver lining in the midst of this pandemic (& that people are reading more). Win-win! One of my favourites is Books On Beechwood in Ottawa. cbc.ca/news/entertain…
I’ve been a fan of Docs For Schools for years, and this fall’s program does not disappoint. Beyond Moving is an emotional and inspiring story about dance. Students at @elmwooddotca are watching the documentary this week. Thanks to @hotdocs for making this possible!
These remarkable Elmwood School Grade 12 IB students finished their Extended Essays (aka 4000 word research papers) last week. It's a feat they should be proud of and this experience will serve them well in university next year. These cupcakes were definitely well-deserved!
Can't wait to celebrate I Read Canadian Day with the readers at Elmwood School in a couple of weeks. We have some fun surprises in store as well!
This week I introduced my middle school students to spoken word with Britta Ba-Doom Badour in a virtual session hosted by OttPubLib/BibPubOtt for poetry month. Great way to start the week and engage students with different ways to appreciate the poetic form.
Thoughtful discussions today in my Grade 8 Information Literacy class about the purpose behind the information we encounter online (entertainment, advertising, opinion, documentation, etc). Really enjoying the Checkology modules - and so are the students. #onlinelearningwins
Lots of great game suggestions in the Get Your Game On session this afternoon at the AISL conference. Looking forward to trying some of these out at Elmwood School soon!#AISL22
In the midst of book challenges, removals and outright banning of titles, Penguin Random House 🐧🏠📚 has created a fireproof copy of Atwood's Handmaid's Tale. Current bid is 42K. I really like the image of Margaret with a blowtorch. wapo.st/3z1wEJX
