Well worth a read. One knock-on effect of this decision, as well as leaving homeowners in the lurch, is the fact that construction companies who were just beginning to scale capacity and experience in retrofitting will now have to wait 2+ years to see ROI on that skills base.

Bobby MacAllister Richard Bruton @Dept_CCAE SEAI Leo Varadkar RTÉ News NewstalkFM The Last Word Absolutely agree. My house was G rated and considerable work was put in by the Tipperary Energy Agency engineers and my own engineer into the technical drawings to bring it to an A standard. A new oil burner would have been cheaper, easier option but we didn’t want that. #deepretrofit

350 homes retrofitted on SEAI deep retrofit scheme in 3 years from 2017 - 2019 an average of just over 2 homes per week. Paris agreement target 1.6m existing Irish homes to be retrofit by 2050, which equates to 992 per week for next 31 years!! disgraceful SEAI #deepretrofit
