The idea that trans women should use men’s toilets, and trans men should use women’s toilets, is completely absurd and unworkable. Research has shown that half of trans people fear using toilets as it is. All of this will simply help drive trans people out of society.

I want to say this as clearly as I can: trans people deserve to live their lives with safety, with recognition and with dignity. You are seen. You are valid. You are loved. Trans people have always been with us and always will be.

Many trans people are concerned and confused about what last week’s Supreme Court ruling. The UK Government must provide clear guidance to preserve the rights and dignity of all – including trans people.

While people have gone to jail for less recently, idiots cosplaying as paramilitaries is so depressing on many more levels. Normal people who had suffered so much put up with injustice to achieve peace. (1/3)

Interesting analogy here: step parents. Most people say a step parent is the parent of the child they adopted. Sure, biologically they’re not the parent. But in society’s eyes they are treated as such. & if you’re exceptionally rude you might refuse to refer to them as parents.

I have written to the Equality and Human Rights Commission asking them to withdraw their interim guidance on single-sex spaces ⬇️. It goes beyond the Supreme Court ruling, increases risks of harassment and violence to trans people, and is contradictory & confusing. EHRC please

📣 Louise Haigh has warned Labour’s response to local elections cannot just be “caution” and “doubling down on unpopular decisions”. In her first speech outside Parliament since leaving the cabinet, she said we need a “new economic settlement”. More here: labourlist.org/2025/05/louise…

Thirty years ago, genocide took the lives of over 8,000 men and boys in Srebrenica. More than 20,000 women and children were forced from their homes. Today, we remember those brutally massacred and stand with the survivors of those horrific events.

Suspended Labour MP Neil Duncan-Jordan says: "Since being elected I have consistently spoken up for my constituents on a range of issues, including most recently on cuts to disability benefits. I understood this could come at a cost, but I couldn’t support making disabled people

What a considered and dignified response from Neil Duncan Jordan to his suspension from the Labour Whip. Speaking up for his constituents & following his conscience are the crimes he committed.

Solidarity with the Labour MPs who have been suspended for standing up for disabled people against welfare cuts by a failing Labour government. UNISON must support them, particularly Neil Duncan-Jordan MP, a former UNISON officer, who represents the best of our union.
