You know, I thought I would be angry, or at least annoyed with the unvaxxed in ICU. But I’m not. Because as I walk around, seeing patient after patient on their bellies, fielding calls from worried family, analyzing ever worsening bloodwork, reading patients histories…

3/ It’s odd to me that people don’t see severe COVID as a form of VIRAL SEPSIS. Sepsis is when infection of any kind causes your organs to begin to fail – lungs, brain, heart, kidneys.  It’s EXACTLY what we see day-in day-out in the COVID ICU.   bit.ly/3eM8pUx

You should always work on improving your model evaluation skills. Model evaluation is the worst taught skill in machine learning, and I believe the best way of improving is through practice. But, this paper from Sebastian Raschka is by far my favorite single written resource:

A year ago, a non-academic friend listened to a talk I gave. I thought it went great. My friend disagreed. She said that academics are experts at making interesting stuff boring—and that we should all take a speech class. So I did. And here are 6 most useful things I learned.

Tenets of Human-Centered XAI: 1. Put the human in the spotlight--figure out what people need to know about/from the system they are using. 2. Then go and figure out how to get it for them. 3. Measure whether what you gave them improved their condition.

With false claims, debunking is less effective than prebunking. 25 studies: rebuttals and fact checks don't do much to change minds. We're better off training people to spot flaws in logic and data. The most important part of education is teaching critical thinking skills.
