“It turns out that trust is in fact earned in the smallest of moments. It is earned not through heroic deeds, or even highly visible actions, but through paying attention, listening, and gestures of genuine care and connection.” Brené Brown

40% of #management is listening. Another 20% is asking questions. Do those two well and you’re doing more for your team than you can imagine.

Also, Startup research often ends at a “competitor analysis” aka using Google to identify best practices to then copy them

DO GIVE FEEDBACK Managers need feedback as much as anybody else, and often more so. Yet when I review manager upward feedback during performance reviews, often enough the "what can they do better" section is left blank. Please don't rob your manager of your feedback!

Everyone hears, but few listen. Active Listening is key to increasing #leadership equity, unlocking employee retention and increasing workplace efficiency. It takes effort, practice, and intentionality.

When groups meet to brainstorm, good ideas are lost. People bite their tongues due to conformity pressure, noise, and ego threat. A better approach is brainwriting: generate ideas separately, then meet to assess and refine. Group wisdom begins with individual creativity.

As a Design Manager I’ve heard this a lot. My take: How it contributes to team success, business continuity and personal development are all measurable and should be recognised. A product team with vs. without this expertise performs different. That’s impact.

I enjoyed a great time at Hatch Conference with talks from Brad Frost, Jaime Levy, José Torre, Luke Murphy 🏳️‍🌈🦄 and many others great speakers advocating for the core function of design to love humans and work towards a better future 🌏💙 Humbled to be part of the line up
