Good morning friends👋 I wish you moments of peace today amidst the busyness. And let's appreciate moments of connection & care between us- the little ways we can help each other out. Important to keep noticing the glimmers. They are there- they are definitely there..

Excited to be in Oxford for the Government Outcomes Lab #soc23 conference at the beautiful Blavatnik School of Government with Gill Main and Kelly She'll-Davis. Statement for Debate: I am attending virtually #SOC23 organized by Blavatnik School of Government I think they are setting the future for #PublicManagement by embracing a multi-actor & cross-sector perspective Can Public Management exist in the future without being multi-actor? #publicvalue

Cross functional teams are often how our senior teams look so it’s interesting that studies show they are dysfunctional 75% of the time. Some great tips here for how to make them work; valuing people who think differently, not building hierarchy, & reinforcing accountability.

I'm not sure I agree with all of this but the impact of language does matter. Perhaps 'healthy' can be better defined as 'living well' Time to ban the word “prevention” | The BMJ bmj.com/content/382/bm…

Great to see the brilliant Matter of Focus framework support the incredible staff Scottish Care reflect on their impact story. Love seeing the values based innovators in our sector focusing on outcomes for people by taking self evaluation & reflection seriously. 👏🏻👏🏻

One of the worst lies we tell ourselves is that doubling down will bring change Truth is, change will always be harder for some & an opportunity for improvement for others ‘the strategy of “continuous improvement” is not just an asset, but a necessity’ medium.com/p/bbc14841370e

Brilliant people leave teams when they feel they just can’t make change happen. The barriers? - fixed hierarchies based on grade - slow or no decision-making - 0 freedom to innovate - blocking good ideas - taking credit for the efforts of others - no engagement - hubris - spin

Health isn’t an individual medical issue; it's a social & political one. Hence, population health improves due to collective, not just individual agency, which, in turn, means health improvement requires community building, not signposting or linking of individuals to activities:
