The potential impact of the East Midlands 'freeport' is concerning. It looks like a backdoor way of ripping up another slew of our rights in large parts of the south of our county.

Imagine you're Kwasi Kwarteng: you've got strident views about economic policy and you even wrote a book about it. you finally get the job as chancellor, the peak of your game, and get to test out your ideas! turns out they are garbage and the economy explodes

Electoral reform is the precondition of the most important constitutional changes we need in our country. It is the foundation upon we can build a moderate, consensual, evidence-based system from the ruins of pathological know-nothing machismo. There's no more important fight.

I have been thinking. Maybe the collapse of Truss's voodoo budget is even more important than people realise? "But it is huge!", you cry, "biggest story since the fall of Boris!" Yup - I think it may be bigger than that. Way bigger. Here is what I am thinking... 1/

If you're a Derbyshire Dales resident and you have a bit of time tonight, please have a look at this consultation on the proposal to raise council tax on second homes.

I prosecute and defend in the most serious cases of child sexual abuse. What makes my job often impossible is the enthusiastic defunding of the criminal justice system by Suella Braverman MP and her colleagues. Justice often isn’t done. And it’s her fault.

It's astonishing how we've normalised this. If it is raining, it is currently safe to assume that your local sewage works is discharging sewage into your local river.

Thanks all that voted for me. It was always a long shot, but I'm glad to have uncovered a substantial Green vote in a ward we've previously not contested. The real news is our wider success in the Dales - congratulations to Green district councillors Neil, Matt, Kelda & Laura!

This is quite something! Those 4 Greens will punch above their weight for sure and help the District take a constructive new direction.

Gez is an excellent councillor and should obviously be on the committee based on his knowledge and experience. The conservative group's justifications for removing him do not hold up to a moment's scrutiny. What is going on here?

Like the author of this piece, I wasn't too familiar with Lewis's music until I saw his Glastonbury set (sadly for me, only on iPlayer) but I agree with his sentiments. It was a beautiful moment & I wish Lewis all the best. The kids are alright heraldscotland.com/politics/viewp…

Polls open for the Norbury ward byelection tomorrow. I'm your Green candidate and I'd love to join the 4 Green councillors who have already won their seats. I would bring experience in and a passion for improving our homes to be warm and fit for the future.
