So I’ve thought long and hard about this: When the ballot went out I voted to strike. I’ve been in two minds whether to go through with it, particularly with the disruption it will cause, but I’ve decided to go through with it.

I cannot look my trainees in the face if I don’t take part in this industrial action. I want to let them have as satisfying a career as I’ve had, and being treated fairly is absolutely vital for this.

Consultant doctors strike tomorrow for 48 hours - I have no desire to strike BUT For the years of training, level of responsibility and cost of living, the pay is not right and has got worse and worse It should never have come to this #NHS
