New qualitative article out in Criminology! Prosecutors embrace colorblindness in their work, and race-neutral cultural scripts like “Every case is unique” and “We only prosecute what the police bring to us” reinforce that approach. The health needs of incarcerated workers have been systematically ignored in the scientific literature. Check out this important article co-authored by our very own Naila Segule! Thanks to all who contributed for this important work. journals.lww.com/joem/Fulltext/…
It's shameful how we remove some kids from homes & put them into the foster care system b/c their parents can't afford to provide for them, but then pay strangers to provide for those kids instead of supporting the parents. Punishing those struggling with poverty makes no sense.
There's been a growing movement of health equity detractors pushing back against the antiracist policies & practices medicine needs most. In my latest in Boston Globe Ideas I argue how antiracism in medical training is key to improving our healthcare system. bostonglobe.com/2022/09/09/opi…
