There are so many angry upset people over the election when reading replies to my last message. Canada isn’t ended. It’s not a disaster. It also would not have been a disaster if the conservatives won. Anger changes your biochemistry and is quite harmful if prolonged on your

Unfortunately I’ve passed the 400 mark for new patients on a waiting list. It really is becoming untenable. Not safe for patient care. I do like that I can click don’t remind me again today but that only very briefly lowers my stress 😵‍💫

We are losing more and more physicians to private user pay options. I can understand why they leave the public system even though I disagree with their choice. It is creating two very distinct patient care options. Money will absolutely buy you better care in BC now.

If you want to access primary care or to be referred for government covered services say to a specialist, imaging or labs you can access it same day in BC if you pay. I’m not sure most in BC know this is a reality.

It’s actually insanity that we train 3 (yes three) physiatrists per year in BC for a population of 5.5 million. In other news no one has been able to explain waiting list times but it’s being studied. We should have answers in 2035.

I love the sunshine. Solar panels on our roof have averaged 54 kWh daily the past month. That is enough to power our daily household needs (minus electric vehicle). BC hydro buys the power full price from your solar array when they need it most in the daytime and you buy it

I have been told I am too critical of my university and BC policy. We have a massive need for my specialty. There is no one to hire, and look, I asked residents in Ontario to help me out, because no one in BC takes responsibility. 18 years ago, when I moved here, not one single

Mayo Clinic just confirmed a new, simple blood test capable of diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease with 95% accuracy at a fraction of the cost and invasiveness of brain scans and spinal taps. The test measures p-tau217, a protein linked to the amyloid plaques that mark Alzheimer’s.

I’m not surprised. The e-referral initiative, while well-intentioned, feels like yet another healthcare IT project destined to cost too much and deliver too little. As one of BC’s busiest nephrologists, I receive a high volume of referrals and was an early adopter of the

What is really important to notice on the numbers you posted many will not understand is “ALC” This stands for alternative level of care. It is a way to designate a patient who no longer needs to be in an acute care hospital or bed but there is no home support or long term care

This makes me really angry. Firing physicians for speaking out is ridiculous. She is an excellent Emergency Physician. We have trouble staffing our ERs. Now we’re are going to fire docs for speaking up. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

If you use BC Hydro and you charge an electric vehicle at home you should log on to your account and make sure you choose time of day pricing. It’s a simple click. It can save you money. You set your car to charge in the overnight hours and you will save $. The trade off is

For many, the uses & potential benefits of AI are still theoretical, but for a lot of BC's healthcare providers it's already part of their daily medical practice It's also going to be a foundational element at Simon Fraser University's new medical school Part 1 in a series: ctvnews.ca/vancouver/arti…
