I *cannot* believe this was real. These colors were real. I've never seen such a deep blue Aurora before. I've seen blue Aurora, but my goodness this was something else. What a beautiful night. Oh, and yes, the snow is purple from the Aurora light reflection, I kid you not.

Oh my gosh, eat your heart out, tornado dynamic enthusiasts. Check out this full tornado occlusion with triple RFD surges with horizontal vortex rolls in the turbulent RFD as the tornado fully occludes and decays out. This is an INSANE detail to get on a radar.

On this date in 1990, what would become known as the Hesston tornado took place. This violent tornado was rated an F5 and damaged 226 homes and 21 businesses in the town of Hesston. Sadly, 2 individuals were killed by the tornado. Additional info: weather.gov/ict/hesston #kswx
