Book #3 of the summer ✅ Playing with Fire by April Henry Fast-paced and thrilling, as always. One of the few April Henry titles I don’t have in my classroom already- I’ll need to remedy that quickly!

Summer book #4 ✅ Harboring Hope by Susan Hood Another great novel in verse! The amount of research that went into writing the story of Henny & how the Danes helped the Jewish population in their country during WWII is incredible- I learned so much! #booklove #teacherswhoread

Book #5 of the summer ✅ Resist by Alan Gratz Great, quick read- companion novella of Allies. It was nice to continue reading more of Samira’s story. Great addition for students who’ve already finished Allies. #buildyourstack #teacherswhoread

Book #6 of the summer ✅ Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse YA Historical Fiction- I’ve heard great things about this one and it definitely lived up to its reputation. So many twists I didn’t see coming had my mind constantly 🤯 #TeachersWhoRead #BuildYourStack

Book #7 of the summer ✅ Rhyme Schemer by K.A. Holt 🏳️‍🌈 Novel in verse - absolutely LOVED this one! No surprise since House Arrest is equally amazing. Made me tear up a bit. Think I will add this to our list of options for book clubs next year. #TeachersWhoRead #BuildYourStack

Book #8 of the summer ✅ A First Time for Everything by Dan Santat Graphic Novel - absolutely loved it! No wonder it won the National Book Award. Perfect for middle schoolers- will recommend this one to all of my 7th & 8th grade readers next year! #TeachersWhoRead #BuildYourStack

Book #9 of the summer ✅ The Big Cheese by Jory John & Pete Oswald Picture Book - I absolutely loved this one! Fabulous vocabulary & word choice. Definitely made me chuckle & the theme is perfect for my KAP 8th graders- will be reading it to them this year! #BuildYourStack

Book #10 of the summer ✅ Heroes by Alan Gratz Historical Fiction - great story and theme, as always! Perfect for my voracious historical fiction readers. Need to add this one to my classroom this year for my readers who have read all of his other books. 😆 #TeachersWhoRead

Book #11 of the summer ✅ The Shadow Throne by Jennifer Nielsen Fantasy - book 3 in the series, but loved it just as much as book 1! I’m invested in the characters by now & it pulled the heartstrings. And the plot twists 🤯 Can’t wait to read #4! #TeachersWhoRead #BuildYourStack

Book #12 of the summer ✅ The Radium Girls by Kate Moore Nonfiction - This has been on my TBR list for a while & I’m so glad I finally read it! So incredibly interesting yet absolutely infuriating at the same time to learn how these brave women were treated. #TeachersWhoRead

Book #13 of the summer ✅ The Night War by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley Historical Fiction - Absolutely loved this one! A WWII era story with a unique mystical element. Will definitely be recommending to my 7th & 8th grade readers next school year! #TeachersWhoRead #BuildYourStack

Book #14 of the summer ✅ Mexikid by Pedro Martin Graphic novel - This memoir was fun to read with all of the throwback references. Good lessons about family. Feel like a lot of my students would relate to the author’s experiences and feelings.

Book #15 of the summer ✅ The Captive Kingdom by Jennifer Nielsen Fantasy - book 4 of the series had just as many surprises as book 1! Only 1 more book left- I’m not ready for the series to end. 😫

Books #16-20 of the summer ✅ The Cool Bean The Sour Grape The Couch Potato The Good Egg The Smart Cookie All by Jory John & Pete Oswald Loved The Big Cheese so much I wanted to read the rest of the food group! Now to choose which book to read for which class #BookLove
