(1/4) I am very pleased to share the second journal publication of my #PhD thesis! The paper is open access through Resources MDPI here: lnkd.in/gfcnPBJZ We present a novel method to model many potential tailings dam breaches, consecutively.

I've been reflecting on divergent critical mineral definitions for a while now...Global collective discussions on mineral scarcity issues are necessary with the projected 2040 demands. For these discussions, there must be unified understanding and definition of what is critical.

John Lee Pettimore I've worked nearly 30 years on mining & sustainability. Yes, metal demand for renewables will present huge challenges. But what this thread is not telling you is that there are many solutions to reduce mining waste, what's lacking is any real interest in implementing them.

Yeah, nah. This is a dodgy take. Most cobalt is produced as a by-product of copper mining & cobalt is the only one of the metals you have listed that has any significant artisanal mining as part of the supply chain. #factcheck

Another dodgy take. All these metals were mined before green energy and continue to be mined for other things, and they nowhere near add up to 98% of mined metals #factcheck
