This might not be a problem if some one at my local @usps store would pick up the phone and answer my question but that’s apparently an optional business practice these days. U.S. Postal ServiceHelp

Tired of paying $140 to file your taxes each year? In 2024, the IRS will pilot a new free, direct file tool — just the first step toward building the free, easy tax filing system that I’ve been fighting for, and that taxpayers deserve.

You can't square John Roberts 2023 ruling that POTUS cannot authorize student debt relief with his 2018 ruling that POTUS can ban Muslims from entering the country, unless you account for the fact that Roberts is a partisan plant. My latest in The Nation thenation.com/article/politi…

Would the Supreme Court permit somebody whose student loan balance jumped ten thousand dollars today to cite their sincere religious belief in the sin of usery (Exodus 22:25–27) in refusing to make interest payments or does this exemption only apply to hating gay people?

What strikes me about the affirmative action and 303 Creative cases is they're both clearly borne from the delusion that white Christians are somehow a marginalized group, and that anything short of dominance by white Christians must mean they're being oppressed.

Last June we lost bodily autonomy, this June they came after affirmative action, student debt forgiveness, the clean water act. This Supreme Court is radically remaking our country.

The wild thing about the whole “we’ll pay you for one day’s work to scan you and use your likeness in anything we want forever” is that they aren’t even offering the same licensing expectation you would give to a font.

I think the end-of-the-Supreme-Court-term punditry is useful in that it reveals who thinks about the law as something that affects the real lives of people who aren’t fancy lawyers, and who conceives of it as a series of fun little logic puzzles for their big brains to ponder

If you didn’t know already, if Republicans win control of the House and Senate in 2024, they are going to pass a national abortion ban. It’s 100% certain. Just so we’re clear about the stakes.

The indictments of Trump are obviously huge deals & I'm not trying to minimize them. But ultimately the solution to the Trump problem is political, not legal. He's almost certainly going to be on the ballot next year, & it'll likely be close. No prosecutor is going to change that
