Our lookout on Castle Hill is surrounded by the history associated with Newhaven Fort. We sit atop the 6” gun emplacements and lockers last in use at the end of WW2. The lookout itself was built in the early 1960s. We will have occupied the lookout for 20 years next year.

A new meaning to Windows update! In a storm of efficiency, despite unfriendly weather, our new windows were installed yesterday. Unlike most Windows updates it did not take forever or happen at the most inconvenient time! 😊

Nautical chartwork is part of our training. All training topics go from the puzzled look of concentration to the smile of understanding. Even when seen from behind, that process is obvious here! For more training info, contact [email protected]

This equipment helps us to keep you safe along our coastline. The most important part of our equipment is the operators. That’s where you come in: you could volunteer and train as a Watchkeeper. Contact [email protected] to learn more.

Our watchkeepers got a shock when making tea: a fridge intruder and no cups left! The visitors are inspectors from the National Elf Service and are inspecting our lookout over the next few days to make sure our workplace is elfy. We’d better stock up on brownies and fairy cakes!

Newhaven RNLI, our SAR allies, close neighbours and friends, hard at work training and rescuing. We are lucky to have such perfect allies and friends in our shared volunteering area of life. Volunteers make the world go round!
