This keynote I did in 2018 hasn't aged at all. A good half hour if you want the big picture of why fixed public transit is so essential, and why you should be really really sure about that. youtu.be/3RurhFn82ZM

This will make a big difference to families... as long as they're in an area with good usable public transport. More services in middle and outer Melbourne, regional towns and further afield are needed to ensure that more people can benefit. abc.net.au/news/2025-05-1…

The published budget info is a bit unclear on what bus routes will benefit from various upgrades. Local MPs might have a better idea so it's worth checking their Facebook. One of the winners is Glenroy's 536 bus that will now run 7 days. A very worthy upgrade.

Melbourne has the lowest evening train frequencies of any comparable city in the world. A program of timetable upgrades post Metro Tunnel is needed to fix this. #springst

Infrequent services make it difficult to get to places on time - especially when making connections. Good to see progress on this in the State Budget, but with Melbourne and Victoria continuing to grow, govt must keep investing in more services more often. #SundayMorning #NotFine

When RMIT decided to junk a rare, $160k weaving loom, a group of artists, teachers and students united to rescue it. The story of this loom felt like a snapshot of everything that’s wrong with how we treat arts and crafts in tertiary ed, so I wrote this theguardian.com/australia-news…

🚨🚌Watch out for bus disruptions on Wednesday due to industrial action. Affects routes run by Dysons and CDC, including in Melbourne's west and north, and some regional cities. Some routes have reduced services; some are not running at all. Details: ptv.vic.gov.au/news-and-event…

🎂🚇Happy 40th birthday to Flagstaff station, opened 27th May 1985! With the Metro tunnel opening soon, the next big challenge for the rail network is to adapt to changing travel demand, with more frequent services right through the week - not just in traditional commuter peaks.

The summary is that safety and customer service were strengths while disruption information, service (in)frequency and ticketing ease were pain points.
