Today I stood with faculty and students from UCLA Ed & IS supporting our courageous students who demand our university divest from war/genocide. I can’t describe how helpless and hopeless I felt until I saw our MLIS students at jail support. Gene Block shame on you.

My name is Anna Dai-Liu, and I’m a reporter for the Daily Bruin, UCLA’s student newspaper. Never have I been prouder to say that, or more conscious of our responsibility.

Thank you to everyone who’s reached out. As we as a newsroom reflect, I thought I'd write a bit here.

The past 48 hours have been distressing across our entire UCLA community, and I hope to see major outlets continue to accurately report the facts of the devastation – as we have been doing our best to do – rather than a desired narrative.

1. What happened last night at UCLA is absolutely shameful and a complete failure of leadership. Police officers wearing body armor, helmets, and face shields deployed flash bang grenades, rubber bullets, and batons against student protestors.

Now taking alumni questions via email. Block skirting the question 'What do the protestors want?' He says 'I don't know some want a 1 state solution, some want a 2-state solution.' He finally gets to divestment. Says that the UC regents will not divest from Israeli institutions.

Students need to avoid what? WTAF does that even mean?
