In good company with Matt Liebman and Gene Turner in this Keith Schneider piece that describes the scale of agricultural pollution in the US and the inadequacy of the voluntary approach in addressing it.

My conversation on Top of Mind re: why flood risk is increasing across the U.S. TL;DR: is part of story, but full answer is more complicated; often, other factors (e.g., population growth within floodplains) are even more important. byuradio.org/top-of-mind-fa…

Companies are chasing public 💸 not climate solutions. Given the ridiculous way 45Q subsidies work, this was always the intent. It's now out in the open b/c Summit thinks this is how to 'sell' the project in North Dakota. A complete waste of IRA money.

I can’t emphasize enough how this SAF boondoggle is what the industry wants to just keep growing more corn 🌽 and beans, pollute our air and water and further concentrate ag prod’n in the hands of few people. Cover crops and not till do not make these crops sustainable.

I'm having a kind of funny, full-circle moment.

Ten years ago this month, I wrote an article for National Geographic that summarized many years of work my colleagues and I did to identify sustainable ways to feed the world and sustain the environment.

Does anyone have data on US military oil demand in the 1950s-1970s? I'm trying gauge how much oil demand was generated by proxy wars/ interventions during Cold War. All the charts I see on military oil use or emissions start in the 1980s. (Depreciated) Patrick Bigger Nick Buxton David Vine
