Simultaneous aerial and ground-based measurements now allow us to determine vent-specific volatile fluxes at multi-vent systems. In this study led by Tom Pering we apply this strategy at Stromboli. Delighted to see our paper out in print in Nature Communications! nature.com/articles/s4146…

Super excited to see our paper out Nature Communications rdcu.be/b4Wx2. We combined a ground-based remote sensing approach with in-plume measurements using an aerial platform to calculate gas compositions and amounts from specific vents. Thanks to a great team!

Preprint EarthArXiv, led by @Tehnuka on ultraviolet camera measurements of passive and explosive sulphur dioxide emissions at Yasur volcano, Vanuatu eartharxiv.org/7r2ay via Center for Open Science. Important fact - measurements were made from a treehouse.

Our paper on gas emissions from Bagana volcano is out! We present measurements of gas chemistry and SO2 & CO2 fluxes from this remote and little studied volcano. We used drones to carry our sensors into the summit gas plume alongside ground- and satellite-based remote sensing. 1/

In this paper we look at gas bubbles and how they behave when travelling inside inclined conduits. We look at what effect small amounts of particles have on the behaviour of these bubbles. The goal to see what combining complexities could do for strombolian style eruptions.

New blog post - a bit of fun with a card game designed for volcanology - "Voltivity" (Volcanic Activity cleverly combined...). A turn based card game where players compete to get the most points by creating eruptions. volcano-blog.com/blog/voltivity…
