When I met with Arts Council England after the funding cuts were announced last year I said musicians would lose their jobs as a result of the cuts. They were dismissive and said musicians could get other jobs. Extraordinary response. Is Arts Council England fit for purpose? ISM

I don’t feel like it’s all hopeless but when I watch every organisation here there and everywhere fold I’m sort of like, what can I tell my students? Continue? No. Move country? Maybe. Work harder? This is not the variable to be questioned. I don’t like this. This is all rotten

I’ve had the privelege of working with @AliceAllenCello on this ballet project. Her incredible playing has brought my scores to life and I can’t wait to hear it tour some amazing venues across the U.K. over the coming months with Ballet Black - YT video into process live now too!

Had a brilliant couple of days helping lead Make a Scene, a project between Opera North and Leeds Conservatoire where composition students write short opera scenes for ON singers and Orchestra of ON. Amazing new music; warmth and generosity from the musicians was fantastic.

Facebook reminded me that ten years ago today(!), I had a piece premiered at the @bbc_proms (my 2nd one!), a co-commission from @bbcradio3 @bbcradio4 & the Proms; it remains one of the only works that was broadcast simultaneously live on Radio 3 and Radio 4.

Hello! I've been absent here recently: I've been deep in the throes of scoring a 40-min ballet! Tours UK 2025 Ballet Black; collaborating w/ Cassa Pancho is a joy. It's a story about a killer, basically. Few rough demos from this exciting project.
