I'm once again asking Western decision-makers, especially in DC and Berlin, if minimizing the risks of escalation is worth it at all costs. Equip Ukraine with more long-range strike weapons and allow them to target Russian air bases and launchers. Our inaction is disgraceful.

Last week, we ran an editorial warning of an anti-democratic backslide in Ukraine. Today, it’s happening in plain sight. This isn’t what our people have been fighting and dying for, and it’s devastatingly unfair to them.

One retired American serviceman who regularly volunteers in Ukraine told me that Ukraine is the country America thinks it is. He repeated this again this week, saying that our pro-democratic protests — during a war — are yet another proof of that. And I couldn’t agree more.
