My street is drenched in darkness. All the windows are blown out and all people inside seem to have left. But one neighbor left a candle in his empty living room and I cannot explain how much calm its small light keeps lending me.

I don't think people are marveling enough that we're about to introduce mRNA into billions of people so that their own cells can translate that mRNA into a SARS-CoV-2 protein, which then triggers an immune response that can recognize the real SARS-CoV-2 virus. How cool is that!

Really excited to share my first PhD work with jesse veenvliet @jesseveenvliet.bsky.social out today in Science Magazine, where we induced trunk-like-structures (TLS) with embryo-like morphogenesis in gastruloids! #MeissnerLab #HerrmannLab MPI for Molecular Genetics science.sciencemag.org/content/370/65โ€ฆ

You only know what your measurements say about your system to the extent that understand the noise in your measurements. This applies especially to scRNA-seq data, which is subject to severe sampling noise. See here our attempt at solving this problem: zpr.io/RAcSp 1/n

Check this cool story about how evolution managed to incorporate a novel gene into an ancient TAD and simultaneously escape co-regulation. Good job Alessa Ringel @mrmikerobson1!

2 months ago I wrote this thread on single cell GPT: "Just as text is made of words, cells are characterized by genes" scGPT sparked fascinating discussions about deep learning & mechanism in biology: where we stand & what lies ahead. Now an improved version of this deep

WARNING Sequence alignment based methods miss most evolutionary conserved enhancers! A fantastic effort led by @mphan232 describes a new strategy and finds 1000s of #conserved #enhancers in distantly related genomes capitalizing on #IPP by Tobias Zehnder ๐Ÿ‘‡ biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shโ€ฆ
