If conferences want to prioritize panel submissions, they should create spaces & systems for (especially new) scholars to connect. ASEH did so using a simple Google sheet and I was able to start organizing an exciting panel less than 24 hrs later

Finished my first week as a full-time professor and it couldn’t have gone better. Fortunate to have a great group of students and colleagues here at Cortland

I had to beg & plead for my own course in my program and was only finally given an online summer class after my funding was up, 4+ years in. Had to look elsewhere for adjunct gigs. Was told it wouldn’t matter for hiring committees. Turns out that it mattered a lot.

Spent the weekend in the Adirondacks at SUNY Cortland’s Camp Huntington, a national historical landmark, with the HIS 308 class. Had a great couple of days of talks on historical thinking & preservation, and of course, kayaking.
