The American people expect us to act. If we fail, it will be because Senate Democrats are continuing to dither while the country expects bold, bipartisan action.

Nothing in the Senate has shocked me, until today. Standing in the way of a critically needed rescue package is irresponsible and reckless. Dems say not enough money to states: nearly $200 billion isn’t chump change. Hospitals get at least $75 billion.

As for funds for companies, it’s to keep entities that employ millions of Americans from folding—it’s to save jobs. Keep this up a little longer and we will go from social distancing to social destruction.

Their solution: radically escalated unemployment insurance for 4-6 months. And then what? Where do all those unemployed go back to work, exactly, when the companies no longer exist?

I repeat: it is NOT A BAILOUT to float zero-interest loans to companies affected by the government-imposed lockdown. This would like arguing it is a giveaway for me to compensate you after I drive my car through your living room.

Given what Democrats are pushing in their version of this bill, thank God a Democrat is not president right now. We'd be looking at the entire restructuring of the American economy on the back of a government-imposed lockdown.
