We differentiated the nonfiction unit by having some kids read and discuss nonfiction articles, while others read and discussed nonfiction books. Kids were grouped based on readiness and interest level. Same end result - amazing perspectives from Jefferson students. @APSGifted

I love when teachers use a real world issue as a lens to a unit. 7th grade science students listened to planet money and used philosophical chairs to dialogue about genes, patents, intellectual property, and scientific research. @APSGifted Jefferson IBMYP @APSscience

Not kidding - these 6th graders discussed literature for 30 mn straight. No interruptions from teachers, no awkward silences, and everyone participated. Teachers set high expectations and kids delivered. @APSGifted Jefferson IBMYP Joanne Mann

6th grade reading took lit circles to the next level with Question Formulation Technique (QFT) With QFT students write their own questions, taking complete control of the conversation. Jefferson IBMYP @APSGifted

What it looks like to co-teach and differentiate with Mr. Gladney. Half the class analyzes the causes and effects of the Revolutionary War, the other half does a DBQ and analyzes who the war was revolutionary for. 👌🏻Jefferson IBMYP @APSGifted
