One thing I learned from watching Hayao Miyazaki films is that it’s okay to tell variations of the same story over and over again. That sometimes you will need to tell the same story in different ways (often at different points in your life) until you can finally be free of it.

One thing I always avoid in my own writing and flag as an editor is what I call: stage directions. I understand how we, as writers, want to give a clear picture of what we're seeing in our minds, but too many can be considered telling and not trusting the reader 👇

There's something gigresque about creating object in a vat of amniotic goop. This is how I'd expect 3D printing to would work in the Alien movies. Imagine pulling your 1 foot tall anime girl statue from there and then tenderly washing it as if it were your newborn.

any time my body image issues start to flare up i just remind myself that thinness is the most boring aspiration... you could create great art or learn a new language or travel the world...and you're focused on... this? how uninspired...
