Nurseries are being put between a rock and a hard place during this crisis. They are being asked to remain open and run at a loss to provide emergency childcare, while those who can’t open still face staffing and other costs which the Governments support doesn’t fully cover. 👇

"All too often, our sector has been left to go it alone. How many times have we been told that we must ‘rise to the challenge’ of inadequate funding and barely existent support?" See our chief executive Neil's latest piece for Early Years Educator earlyyearseducator.co.uk/features/artic…

The Chancellor has announced a 'national living wage' increase from £9.50 to £10.42, the largest ever rise. W/ no mention of the early years yet, despite a significant schools investment announcement, this is an incredibly concerning announcement for our sector #AutumnStatement

Early Years Alliance (@eyalliance) 's Twitter Profile Photo

We absolutely believe that early years professionals should be paid a fair wage for the incredible job they do, but a NLW increase without an equivalent increase in early years funding is simply not sustainable for our already-struggling sector #AutumnStatement

"This sector is already dreadfully underfunded, so the energy increases have added to our financial concern." We're calling for additional energy support for nurseries, pre-schools and childminders, alongside fairer funding. Read more in the The Guardian: theguardian.com/education/2022…
