Longer term studies (ANTLER, Rosenbaum) were captured in the review but not analysed as part of this main analysis. The longest of the 11 studies went for 26 weeks but involved a drug (agomelatine) that no one thinks causes withdrawal (2/n)

The fact that these conclusions were based on 10-12 week studies was not mentioned anywhere in the main paper. There is clear evidence that longer term users have worse withdrawal, hardly surprising. Millions use these drugs for years or decades (3/n)

Dangerously misleading garbage in, garbage out review in JAMA Psychiatry by authors on drug industry payroll claims antidepressant withdrawal is not a problem. bit.ly/4lQSUeH.

A review just published in Jama Psychiatry by several senior authors who declare payments from drug companies has a sad, dark history repeating itself with short-term Pharma-funded trials saying antidepressants don’t cause significant withdrawal effects. independent.co.uk/life-style/hea…

JAMA appears very pleased that this study has made ‘most viewed this week’ status. I wonder if they realise it’s for all the wrong reasons…

It is really good to see psychiatrists exploring the link between childhood adversity and schizophrenia. It's time for psychiatrists who blame schizophrenia on the brain to catch up with existing research, even though it's been available for decades. “Approximately 70%–98% of

Misleading paper by drug company funded psychiatrists grossly minimises the antidepressant withdrawal effects with which millions are struggling. Intentional malevolence or unintentional incompetence?Time for journal to issue a correction? telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/0…

Skeptical take on the new JAMA review in Australian Doctor: bit.ly/4kJNelE “By drawing global conclusions from short-term trials, this study distorts the reality of withdrawal, downplays the real challenges faced by patients and is likely to perpetuate further harm,”

A decade ago, when we warned about the harms of over-medicalisation, no one in power paid attention. Now they do, as the results are impossible to ignore as an entire generation suffers the personal & ideological harms of their distress being unduly pathologised & medicated...

I knew bio-psychiatry was in trouble when they made the mistake of pathologizing ordinary human experience. Everyone has a mental disorder nowadays. It's been great for business, but it has led to over-diagnosing and overmedication. That's why there's been so much pushback from
